In the 16thth minute of the game Ernesto Valadares who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Pirat's Tibúrcio Leite was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Kléberson Duarte took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vito Loureiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sydney Zilles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Kléberson Duarte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vito Loureiro in the 25th minute of play forced Chapeu's goalkeeper Kléberson Duarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sydney Zilles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kléberson Duarte having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sydney Zilles got free with Kléberson Duarte in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Pirat booed when Chapeu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ademar Gomes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sydney Zilles who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 37thth minute tested the skills of Kléberson Duarte when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Arnaldo Leme sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Arnaldo Leme received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Tibúrcio Leite tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
Ernesto Valadares's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Tibúrcio Leite firmly grabbed it by the left post. The Pirat fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. After a rather tough play, Chapeu's Arnaldo Leme got a free kick in the 64th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vito Loureiro in the 67th minute of play forced Chapeu's goalkeeper Kléberson Duarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kléberson Duarte showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sydney Zilles, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Kléberson Duarte showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sydney Zilles in the 71st minute of the match. Tibúrcio Leite made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ernesto Valadares in the 84th minute. Tibúrcio Leite made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Ernesto Valadares sent off a good shot on target. Tibúrcio Leite was a little too slow when Arnaldo Leme got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 92nd minute. The score was now 1-2. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Chapeu eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
