Guarauna SS's Adalmo Hermes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jefferson Cerezo in the 3rd minute of play. In the 5th minute the ball was on its way in behind Capoeirana SC's goalkeeper Délio Neves, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 8 minutes into the match, Guarauna SS's Emanuel Maia sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Délio Neves narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Benedito Vides had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 22 minutes into the match, Capoeirana SC's goalkeeper Délio Neves had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paulo Lago. Through an outstanding action, after 45 minutes, Délio Neves successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fabiano Simão to make the kick off. Capoeirana SC's Fabiano Simão got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Benedito Vides recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Délio Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emanuel Maia in the 56th minute of play. After 61 played minutes Capoeirana SC got a freekick which was hit by Giovani Arantes. João Recife charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed João Recife the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Capoeirana SC booed when Guarauna SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Recife didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jefferson Cerezo charged in rather forcefully in the 86th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
