Kléber Urbano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rafinha Arantes was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 6th minute. Alagacico's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Carlos Fernando Barreto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Juarês Carioca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 11 minutes into the match, Alagacico's goal looked a bit too open when Charles Pena came free, but Juarês Carioca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Durval Araújo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kléber Urbano in the 17th minute of the match. In the 29th minute, Alfredão Moura hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 31st minute Kléber Urbano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Durval Araújo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alagacico's Juarês Carioca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Fernando Barreto in the 35th minute of play. Carlos Fernando Barreto kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Charles Pena managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lajes's supporters rose to their feet, but Charles Pena was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Juarês Carioca breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Fernando Barreto in the 46th minute of play forced Alagacico's goalkeeper Juarês Carioca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Charles Pena stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Charles Pena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Fernando Barretos short, quick shot in the 57thth minute got Juarês Carioca to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Rafinha Arantes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Durval Araújo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kléber Urbano in the 66th minute of play forced Lajes's goalkeeper Durval Araújo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carlos Fernando Barreto struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Juarês Carioca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lajes. In the 68th minute, Lúcio Amaral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Charles Pena kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Juarês Carioca. That made the score 0-1 in the 72 minute of play. Charles Pena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juarês Carioca having to interfere. In the 79th minute, Carlos Fernando Barreto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Lajes fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. After a defensive mix-up in Alagacico's zone, Charles Pena stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juarês Carioca came out of the goal and Charles Pena tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alagacico's Juarês Carioca proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Alagacico from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Lajes's Tibúrcio Amaral got a free kick in the 92nd minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Lajes had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
