The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Sarauna FC's Sílvio Luís Baptista played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aluísio Amorim in the 4th minute of play. Dalmo Antunes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luisinho Vergílio, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Sarauna FC's zone, Aluísio Amorim stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sílvio Luís Baptista came out of the goal and Aluísio Amorim tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Washington Abraão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Dalmo Antunes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Aluísio Amorim managed to get in a good position for a shot. Burity SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Aluísio Amorim was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sílvio Luís Baptista breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Sarauna FC's Júlio Marinho got a free kick in the 31st minute. Burity SC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Carlos Eduardo de Almeida in the 33rd minute. The corner led Burity SC's Carlos Eduardo de Almeida to fire away a dangerous shot which Sílvio Luís Baptista despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Dalmo Antunes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luisinho Vergílio in the 36th minute of play. Dalmo Antunes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Júlio Marinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Thanks to some nice moves Júlio Marinho could shoot a difficult shot in the 47th minute, which Dalmo Antunes however easily saved by the left post. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Aluísio Amorim made a kick off. When Washington Maciel came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Burity SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Washington Maciel couldn't finish the play. If Luisinho Vergílio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Washington Maciel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute.
