A very good chance for a goal. 19 minutes had been played when some careless play by Custodia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Enéas Montenegro was slow to take the kick. During this time Russas's players had a chance to rest. Rubens Senna thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Sandro Xavier, a very annoying self made goal in the 19th minute which led to 1-0. After 25 played minutes Custodia got a freekick which was hit by Belmiro Barral. Sandro Xavier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cauã Pombal in the 27th minute of play. Rogério Macedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sandro Xavier having to interfere. Luciano Rossi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Nestor da Cunha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Felipe Rezende fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Russas's protests and gave Felipe Rezende a yellow card for diving instead. Felipe Rezende hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. The supporters of Russas booed when Custodia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Belmiro Barral didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Russas's Nestor da Cunha got control of the ball when Luciano Rossi tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Russas's zone, Luciano Rossi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nestor da Cunha came out of the goal and Luciano Rossi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
