The supporters of Russas booed when Caruru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Celsinho Torres didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 19th minute of the match Enéas Montenegro shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Andrézinho da Mata showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Caruru's Andrézinho da Mata played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cauã Pombal in the 20th minute of play. Cauã Pombal struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Andrézinho da Mata didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Russas. 0-2 became the score in the 25th minute when Rogério Macedo elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Cauã Pombal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andrézinho da Mata having to interfere. Vânderson Almeida struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Nestor da Cunha didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Caruru. Rogério Macedo hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. If Benedito Zanette had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cauã Pombal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jeremias Romero hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. A collision led to Caruru getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Celsinho Torres hit a great ball. Andrézinho da Mata made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rogério Macedo in the 47th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Joélson da Silveira during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 48th match minute, Caruru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joélson da Silveira to maneuver through the defense. Cauã Pombal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 49th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andrézinho da Mata having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Benedito Zanette stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Russas would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
