After a rather tough play, Itiquira's Hílton Moreno got a free kick in the 8th minute. David Saraiva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Vítor Leme, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Itiquira's David Saraiva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Vítor Leme in the 12th minute of play. João Francisco Lago scored 0-3 in the 26th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Emerson Arantes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Ulysses Veiga fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Catrimani's protests and gave Ulysses Veiga a yellow card for diving instead. In the 31st match minute, Catrimani was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ulysses Veiga to maneuver through the defense. João Francisco Lago fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emerson Arantes having to interfere. Emerson Arantes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ademir de Queiroz in the 40th minute of play. After some careless play in the Catrimani defense, João Francisco Lago kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Emerson Arantes. The Catrimani fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Emerson Arantes should have stopped the shot. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-4 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ademir de Queiroz to make the kick off. In the 50th match minute, Catrimani was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roger da Mata to maneuver through the defense. Ademir de Queiroz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Emerson Arantes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Itiquira's David Saraiva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Vítor Leme in the 55th minute of play. José Vítor Leme sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Itiquira getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Nando Secco hit a great ball. When Waldir Ortiz came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Catrimani fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Waldir Ortiz couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nando Secco during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Nando Secco kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. David Saraiva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Waldir Ortiz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 66 minutes of play, Itiquira's João Francisco Lago made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Emerson Arantes was left in no man's land by his defense there! Waldir Ortiz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Emerson Arantes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ademir de Queiroz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 90 minutes into the match, Itiquira's Ademir de Queiroz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Emerson Arantes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Itiquira's David Saraiva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Vítor Leme in the 91st minute of play. After a rather tough play, Catrimani's Arlindo Miranda got a free kick in the 95th minute. When the final whistle sounded Itiquira left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Catrimani.
