The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cisneiros's Sidnei Mattos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laerte Rossi in the 14th minute of play. In the 18thth minute of the game Zé Augusto Meirelles who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Piranguassu's Davi Cardoso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Piranguassu getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Beto Secco hit a great ball. When Germano Motta came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Cisneiros fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Germano Motta couldn't finish the play. After having played for 23 minutes, Germano Motta managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cisneiros's supporters crossed their fingers, but Germano Motta was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 25 minutes into the match, Germano Motta had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Davi Cardoso. Piranguassu's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Germano Motta was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 29th minute of the game, Anísio Maranhense landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. When Beto Secco fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Piranguassu's protests and gave Beto Secco a yellow card for diving instead. José Paulista, 31 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. 34 minutes into the match, Cisneiros's goal looked a bit too open when Vitinho Paraense came free, but Sidnei Mattos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 37th minute, Vitinho Paraense made a precise shot to the right of Sidnei Mattos. Cisneiros's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Zé Augusto Meirelles kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. Hortêncio Mello hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Sidnei Mattos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vitinho Paraense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Laerte Rossi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Vitinho Paraense struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Sidnei Mattos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Piranguassu. In the 57th match minute, Cisneiros was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hortêncio Mello to maneuver through the defense. Laerte Rossi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sidnei Mattos having to interfere. Hortêncio Mello hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Piranguassu's Nando Couto couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 61st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Cisneiros. Laerte Rossi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Sidnei Mattos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 65 minutes into the match, Laerte Rossi dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Sidnei Mattos, 1-2. Davi Cardoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Germano Motta in the 72nd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Germano Motta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cisneiros's supporters rose to their feet, but Germano Motta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Davi Cardoso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vitinho Paraense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 81 minutes, Luiz Fernando Pinho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cisneiros's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Fernando Pinho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cisneiros's Hortêncio Mello got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 88th minute, Laerte Rossi made a precise shot to the right of Sidnei Mattos. Cisneiros's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3.
