An unexpectedly hard shot by Cafu de Medeiros in the 5th minute of play forced Reuniao's goalkeeper Vivaldo Tasso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 7 minutes, Cafu de Medeiros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tucuriu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cafu de Medeiros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luizinho Motta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vivaldo Tasso having to interfere. The supporters of Tucuriu booed when Reuniao was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Pedro Brasil didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 19th match minute, Tucuriu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Walmyr Dante to maneuver through the defense. Arthur Loyola took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 20th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Júlio Passos. Tucuriu's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Luizinho Motta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. Reuniao's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tucuriu the free kick. When Cauan Vale was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 39 minutes had been played. Cafu de Medeiros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vivaldo Tasso having to interfere. In the 46th minute Nando Valladares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vivaldo Tasso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Victor Pereira to strike the kick off in the second half.
