Raí Xavier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amauri Valle, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Nildo Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tuparetama's Raí Xavier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliézer Motta in the 13th minute of play. In the 23rd minute, one of Cacau SC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Cacau SC. Gino Saldanha had in the 24thth minute some difficulties stopping Sidnei Sarmento's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 24 minutes into the game, Tuparetama's Sidnei Sarmento nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gino Saldanha made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. When Sidnei Sarmento fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tuparetama's protests and gave Sidnei Sarmento a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 28th minute of the game. One of Tuparetama:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Cacau SC:s goal. If Amauri Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 41st minute Cacau SC were awarded a corner. Frédson Trancoso went to the cornerflag to take it. Amauri Valle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Davi Ferraz kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hermínio Tasso was the one to do the kick off. Tuparetama's Nildo Simões got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Tuparetama's Raí Xavier got control of the ball when Eliézer Motta tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 56 minutes, Amauri Valle managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cacau SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Amauri Valle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Cacau SC's Arí Cavalcante got a free kick in the 63rd minute. In the 67thth minute of the game Hermínio Tasso who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cacau SC's Gino Saldanha was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Hermínio Tasso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gino Saldanha having to interfere. In the 73rd minute, Hermínio Tasso made a precise shot to the right of Gino Saldanha. Cacau SC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Amauri Valle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Raí Xavier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Tuparetama getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. César Campidelis hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Cacau SC defense, Nildo Simões kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gino Saldanha. The Cacau SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gino Saldanha should have stopped the shot. Gino Saldanha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nildo Simões in the 96th minute of the match. Tuparetama's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
