An unexpectedly hard shot by Basílio Macedo in the 3rd minute of play forced Canguinha's goalkeeper David Motta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rubinho Pires received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Vânderson Zilles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice moves Alan Valladares could shoot a difficult shot in the 9th minute, which David Motta however easily saved by the left post. David Motta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Basílio Macedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Cláudio Cruz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vânderson Zilles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rubinho Pires in the 24th minute of the match. Cláudio Cruz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. David Motta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 28th minute, Basílio Macedo fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of David Motta, passed just outside the right post. Cícero Toscano charged in rather forcefully in the 39th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cícero Toscano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 38 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Canguinha! In the 42nd minute there was a penalty for Capibaribe EC. Luís da Mata stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving David Motta. 2-0. A collision led to Canguinha getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. João Paulo Pontes hit a great ball. Luís da Mata's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but David Motta firmly grabbed it by the left post. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Cláudio Cruz made the kick off in the second half. When Washington Ramos came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Capibaribe EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Washington Ramos couldn't finish the play. Cláudio Cruz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Motta having to interfere. Ulisses Valle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Capibaribe EC's Marquinhos Maia got a free kick in the 79th minute. When Cláudio Cruz came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Capibaribe EC fans jumped to their feet. If Marquinhos Maia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ulisses Valle got free with Vânderson Zilles in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When João Paulo Pontes fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Canguinha's protests and gave João Paulo Pontes a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 91st minute of the game. One of Canguinha:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Capibaribe EC:s goal. In the 94th minute there was a penalty for Capibaribe EC. Luís da Mata stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving David Motta. 5-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Cláudio Cruz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Capibaribe EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Cláudio Cruz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. David Motta breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
