The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Percy Dracena fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Estevao's protests and gave Percy Dracena a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 7th minute of the game. One of Estevao:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ivolandia:s goal. Estevao:s Washington de Sena showed great skill when he stopped Aírton Gerber:s penalty. Aírton Gerber did an outstanding performance 9 minutes into the match, when he by himself got past the opposing team's defense and with a quick scored 0-1 to the right of an irritated Washington de Sena in the goal. Roberto Nunes took the ball and in the 14 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Washington de Sena. Washington de Sena dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Washington de Sena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cipriano Barral in the 20th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Roberto Nunes during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Roberto Nunes kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. Estevao's Washington de Sena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roberto Nunes in the 25th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cipriano Barral in the 28th minute of play forced Estevao's goalkeeper Washington de Sena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cipriano Barral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Agenor Dias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jarbas Neves having to interfere. Estevao's Washington de Sena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cipriano Barral in the 37th minute of play. When Agenor Dias came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Estevao fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Agenor Dias couldn't finish the play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Agenor Dias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jarbas Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agenor Dias in the 60th minute of play. Cipriano Barral could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Washington de Sena made a huge save. Estevao's defense didn't have a chance, in the 65th minute, when Cipriano Barral scored to the left of an out of position Washington de Sena, making the score, 0-4. After a rather tough play, Ivolandia's Enio Cardozo got a free kick in the 77th minute. After 82 minutes of play Ivolandia's Enio Cardozo was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 84 minutes into the game, Cipriano Barral recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Washington de Sena. Cipriano Barral showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-5. After 93 played minutes Ivolandia got a freekick which was hit by Aírton Gerber. Jarbas Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Falcão Mangueira in the 95th minute of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Ivolandia eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
