Erik Braga started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the match, Marcelo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Erik Braga came free, but Jarbas Xavier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Erik Braga managed to get in a good position for a shot. Florestina's supporters rose to their feet, but Erik Braga was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jarbas Xavier breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Erik Braga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Jarbas Xavier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlos Fernando da Silveira who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 13thth minute tested the skills of Bebeto Penha when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Aírton Madureira kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. Bebeto Penha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Charles Pereira, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. In the 23rdth minute of the game Erik Braga who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Marcelo FC's Jarbas Xavier was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Marcelo FC getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Túlio Maranhense hit a great ball. Carlos Fernando da Silveira kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. When Florestina's Erik Braga in the 30th minute got a chance for a shot 30th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Marcelo FC's goalie prevented a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ademar Freitas got free with Bebeto Penha in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Charles Pereira made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Florestina's Rui do Vale got a free kick in the 52nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Florestina's zone, Charles Pereira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bebeto Penha came out of the goal and Charles Pereira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jarbas Xavier made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Natanael Pinho sent off a good shot on target. Bebeto Penha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Charles Pereira in the 82nd minute of play. Ademar Freitas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bebeto Penha having to interfere. Erik Braga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Jarbas Xavier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ademar Freitas charged in rather forcefully in the 93rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ademar Freitas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Marcelo FC's Ademar Freitas got a free kick in the 94th minute. After having played for 97 minutes, Erik Braga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Florestina's supporters crossed their fingers, but Erik Braga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
