After 14 minutes of play, Arvores SC's Valdir Baptista made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.
The wind increased when Alfredo Montenegro made the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Arvores SC defense, Mauro Diniz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rodriguinho Travassos. The Arvores SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rodriguinho Travassos should have stopped the shot. If Valdir Baptista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arvores SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alfredo Montenegro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Arvores SC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
