Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Zé Roberto Arruda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 10th match minute, Jardin was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aníbal Sampaio to maneuver through the defense. 13 minutes had been played when some careless play by Jardin's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Alex Oliveira was slow to take the kick. During this time Macacos SS's players had a chance to rest. If Fabrício Saraiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sydney Berger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Virgílio Barreto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luís Guilherme Salgado's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Geraldo Terra read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. A hard shot by Luizão Velasco from long distance, 30 minutes into the match, got Virgílio Barreto's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 31st minute of the match, Fabrício Saraiva tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Virgílio Barreto saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 37 minutes into the match, Jardin's goal looked a bit too open when Zé Roberto Arruda came free, but Geraldo Terra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 41st minute, one of Macacos SS:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Macacos SS. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zé Roberto Arruda made a kick off. After 52nd play minutes Sydney Berger shot 2-0, a short shot which went by Virgílio Barreto and just under the crossbar into goal. Deivid Pena hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Zé Roberto Arruda's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 58thth minute, Geraldo Terra skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Zé Roberto Arruda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 60 minutes, Aníbal Sampaio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jardin and the Macacos SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 60th match minute, Jardin was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aníbal Sampaio to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Jardin booed when Macacos SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Deivid Pena didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 69th minute, Aníbal Sampaio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zé Roberto Arruda could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Geraldo Terra made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Sydney Berger managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jardin's supporters rose to their feet, but Sydney Berger was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Virgílio Barreto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Virgílio Barreto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sydney Berger in the 83rd minute of the match. In the 84th match minute, Macacos SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulo José Teixeira to maneuver through the defense. Aníbal Sampaio was shown his second yellow card after 86 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Aníbal Sampaio kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sydney Berger in the 93rd minute of play forced Macacos SS's goalkeeper Virgílio Barreto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Durval Bezerra's late challenge caught a Jardin's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Durval Bezerra helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Macacos SS's Durval Bezerra got a free kick in the 95th minute. 96 minutes into the match, Macacos SS's goal looked a bit too open when Sydney Berger came free, but Virgílio Barreto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jardin were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Macacos SS for a fine match.
