In the 30th minute César Paraibano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Virgílio Barreto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ulysses Romero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Guilherme Salgado in the 31st minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Macacos SS's zone, César Paraibano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Virgílio Barreto came out of the goal and César Paraibano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 32ndth minute of the game Agenor Britto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Macacos SS's Virgílio Barreto was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Macacos SS's Zé Roberto Arruda got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 42 minutes into the game, Luís Guilherme Salgado cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Ulysses Romero was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Paulo José Teixeira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Ulysses Romero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. César Paraibano was the one to do the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers César Paraibano in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Virgílio Barreto saved Macacos SS from getting behind. If César Paraibano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Macacos SS's Virgílio Barreto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save Macacos SS from getting a goal against them. Zé Roberto Arruda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
