When Sandro Simão fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Itaborahy's protests and gave Sandro Simão a yellow card for diving instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eurico Vides in the 11th minute of play forced Itaborahy's goalkeeper Mazinho Meira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Paulo Trigo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enrique Mesquita in the 16th minute of play. A collision led to Esteirao getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. José Veloso hit a great ball. After 18 played minutes David de Carvalho shot from long distance. At first the shot seemed to be simple for Esteirao's José Paulo Trigo to catch but David de Carvalho was lucky. It became 2-0 after the goalkeeper had been careless and dropped the ball into goal. 22 minutes into the match, Luisão Velasco had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mazinho Meira. Itaborahy's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luisão Velasco was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. After 25 played minutes Itaborahy got a freekick which was hit by Henrique Matorin. In the 27th minute Esteirao were awarded a corner. Tarcisio Toledo went to the cornerflag to take it. 30 minutes into the match, Itaborahy's goal looked a bit too open when Luisão Velasco came free, but Mazinho Meira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 34 minutes into the match, Itaborahy's Durval Paulista sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that José Paulo Trigo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. José Paulo Trigo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enrique Mesquita, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. The supporters of Itaborahy booed when Esteirao was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Simão Nóbrega didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Enrique Mesquita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luisão Velasco made a kick off. In the 52ndth minute of the game Enrique Mesquita who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Esteirao's José Paulo Trigo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. José Paulo Trigo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Durval Paulista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Simão Nóbrega during the 54th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 54th minute, Simão Nóbrega hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Durval Paulista blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without José Paulo Trigo having to make a save. During the 59th minute of the match Henrique Matorin completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Henrique Matorin a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. With a little luck, Itaborahy's Mazinho Meira got control of the ball when Eurico Vides tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mazinho Meira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luisão Velasco, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. If Luisão Velasco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Durval Paulista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. José Paulo Trigo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 77th minute Durval Paulista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Paulo Trigo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 80th minute, Sandro Simão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Durval Paulista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Eurico Vides came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Esteirao fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eurico Vides couldn't finish the play. If Eurico Vides had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luisão Velasco blasted a shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mazinho Meira having to make a save. In the 94th play minute Eurico Vides came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Mazinho Meira. 2-2. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
