Douglas Fantini hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. Bebeto Ortiz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vitinho Carvalho, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. Vitinho Carvalho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bebeto Ortiz having to interfere. Conrado Gerber stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Noel da Rocha's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. A collision led to Serranos getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Vitinho Carvalho hit a great ball. With a little luck, Serranos's Conrado Gerber got control of the ball when Glauco de Medeiros tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 30th minute, Glauco de Medeiros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bebeto Ortiz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Vítor Velloso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Noel da Rocha struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Conrado Gerber didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paraiba. Naldo Senna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Conrado Gerber having to interfere.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Noel da Rocha was the one to do the kick off. Vitinho Carvalho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Conrado Gerber made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Noel da Rocha in the 61st minute of play. In the 71st minute Glauco de Medeiros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Conrado Gerber saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bebeto Ortiz went to the wrong direction when Fellipe Martins was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. José Vítor Velloso might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bebeto Ortiz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. José Vítor Velloso ran back to his position shaking his head. Glauco de Medeiros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Conrado Gerber tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rafael de Godoy hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. Júlio Pena kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. Conrado Gerber tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 97 minutes into the game, Glauco de Medeiros cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Conrado Gerber was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Paraiba had won after a very even match.
