Naldo Senna kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. Jefferson Dias's late challenge caught a Massui's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jefferson Dias helped the player get up and apologised. In the 9th match minute, Paraiba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jefferson Dias to maneuver through the defense. In the 14th minute Glauco de Medeiros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Severino Cabral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 15th minute, Glauco de Medeiros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Noel da Rocha blasted a shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Severino Cabral having to make a save. Massui's Severino Cabral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Noel da Rocha in the 29th minute of play. Hílton Maranhense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Severino Cabral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Noel da Rocha in the 39th minute of the match. If Noel da Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Glauco de Medeiros recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Paraiba's Bebeto Ortiz got control of the ball when Hílton Maranhense tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Massui's Norberto das Neves got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Severino Cabral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Noel da Rocha in the 60th minute of the match. When Erasmo Nascimento came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Massui fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Erasmo Nascimento couldn't finish the play. Severino Cabral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Noel da Rocha in the 72nd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Glauco de Medeiros got free with Severino Cabral in the 74th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Noel da Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 78th minute, Paraiba's Noel da Rocha dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. After 81 minutes, Glauco de Medeiros mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Paraiba and the Massui players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Massui booed when Paraiba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Glauco de Medeiros didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match clock showed 87 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Erasmo Nascimento sped through Paraiba's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Bebeto Ortiz. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erasmo Nascimento in the 90th minute of play forced Paraiba's goalkeeper Bebeto Ortiz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 97 minutes into the match, Massui's goal looked a bit too open when Maurinho Botelho came free, but Severino Cabral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Massui's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
