Belmiro Freitas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tomás Carneiro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. Waldemar Andrade hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. The supporters of Goza SS booed when Goianorte SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dito Rossi didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 25 played minutes Goza SS got a freekick which was hit by Donatello Brodel. In the 36thth minute of the game Benjamim Diniz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Goza SS's Tomás Carneiro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Benjamim Diniz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomás Carneiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Belmiro Freitas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
