The audience thought a goal was coming when Jorginho Mineiro got free with Franklin Magalhães in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 17th minute Bruno de Carvalho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Júlio Hermes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Osvaldinho Matos kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oscar Trancoso in the 23rd minute of play forced Carmo's goalkeeper Júlio Hermes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carmo's Júlio Hermes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oscar Trancoso in the 26th minute of play. Júlio Hermes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pompeiro. Oscar Trancoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Egídio Tinoco's late challenge caught a Pompeiro's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Egídio Tinoco helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Carmo getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Egídio Tinoco hit a great ball. Isaltino de Senna took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 45th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Júlio Hermes. Carmo's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Júlio Hermes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bruno de Carvalho in the 47th minute of the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Oscar Trancoso to make the kick off. If Jorginho Mineiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luís Fabiano Freitas's late challenge caught a Carmo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luís Fabiano Freitas helped the player get up and apologised. 61 minutes into the match, Carmo's Geraldo Félix broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Pompeiro's Franklin Magalhães played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudinei Castro in the 64th minute of play.
