After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Serginho Lira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Olinda's supporters rose to their feet, but Serginho Lira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sandrinho do Valle breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sandrinho do Valle showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Orlando Xavier, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. After having played for 37 minutes, Marcinho Silva managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Severino Furtado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Waldir Cavalcante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Oswaldo Carneiro during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Waldir Cavalcante in the 81stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Nilson Abreu, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 83rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Teixeiras's goalkeeper Sandrinho do Valle, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 86 minutes, Severino Furtado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
