Ezequiel Castro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Falcão Gomes, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luís Fernando Neiva was shown his second yellow card after 34 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of Areal booed when Cuyabasinho SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Fernando Neiva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kauã Luz who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 38thth minute tested the skills of Gláuber Mattos when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Kauã Luz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Gláuber Mattos made a huge save. Falcão Gomes struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Ezequiel Castro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cuyabasinho SS. 47 minutes into the game, Antônio Carlos Massa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Areal's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cuyabasinho SS the free kick. After 48 played minutes Areal got a freekick which was hit by Antônio Carlos Massa. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marcos de Souza was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Falcão Gomes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Ezequiel Castro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Areal's zone, Falcão Gomes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ezequiel Castro came out of the goal and Falcão Gomes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Cuyabasinho SS's Mário Recife got a free kick in the 67th minute. After a rather tough play, Areal's Cristian Ferraz got a free kick in the 71st minute. Elivélton Cosme's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ezequiel Castro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. In the 88th minute Kauã Luz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gláuber Mattos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
