Tiaraju SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Fabrício Medeiros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rogério Mumbach breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rogério Mumbach took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fabrício Medeiros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 25th match minute, Tiaraju SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Senna to maneuver through the defense. If Juninho Dantas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristóvão Catarinense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rogério Mumbach having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Afonso Cruz during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fabrício Medeiros was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Tiaraju SC's zone, Rubinho Pires stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lucas Teles came out of the goal and Rubinho Pires tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Rodrigo Arce fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tiaraju SC's protests and gave Rodrigo Arce a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Unhao EC booed when Tiaraju SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodrigo Arce didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristóvão Catarinense's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rogério Mumbach read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. The Tiaraju SC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Unhao EC's performance. The match ended with a win for Unhao EC.
