But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ezequiel Gerber couldn't finish the play. 43 minutes into the game, Arthur Mumbach was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Jucuri's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Jacuizinho the free kick. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Adalmo Valadares to make the kick off. With a little luck, Jucuri's Norberto Duarte got control of the ball when Dé Pena tried to sneak it across the goal line. Arthur Mumbach hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match.
