Juninho da Cunha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gino de Amaral charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gino de Amaral the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Manfredo Novaes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Malva FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Manfredo Novaes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Juninho da Cunha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Malva FC's Luiz Paulo Mendes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erivaldo da Mata in the 35th minute of play. Claudinho Xavier struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Juninho da Cunha didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Malva FC. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Erivaldo da Mata made the kick off in the second half. Itamaraju AD's Juninho da Cunha proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Itamaraju AD from getting a goal against them. 57 minutes into the match, Itamaraju AD's Erivaldo da Mata sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luiz Paulo Mendes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Itamaraju AD's Juninho da Cunha proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Itamaraju AD from getting a goal against them. 68 minutes into the game, Claudinho Xavier cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. If Erivaldo da Mata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
