The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Váldson Campidelis during the 3rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 7th minute, Eurico Severo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, Frigideira EC's Diogo Eger got control of the ball when Didi Lopez tried to sneak it across the goal line. Didi Lopez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Frigideira EC's Enéas Chaves got a free kick in the 12th minute. If Faustão Terra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Osvaldo Matos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eurico Severo, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Diogo Eger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cléber de Almeida in the 22nd minute of play. Frigideira EC's Faustão Terra got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 26th minute Eurico Severo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Osvaldo Matos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cléber de Almeida fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diogo Eger having to interfere. Didi Lopez might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Diogo Eger. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Didi Lopez ran back to his position shaking his head. Cléber de Almeida sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The supporters of Frigideira EC booed when Mondai was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cléber de Almeida didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cléber de Almeida to make the kick off. Eurico Severo's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Osvaldo Matos firmly grabbed it by the left post. After 55 played minutes Frigideira EC got a freekick which was hit by Eurico Severo. When Frigideira EC's Faustão Terra in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Mondai's goalie prevented a goal. 63 minutes into the game, Faustão Terra lined in a short shot 0-1 behind a frustrated Osvaldo Matos. Faustão Terra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as Frigideira EC's Faustão Terra slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Osvaldo Matos. That made the score 0-2 after 75 minutes of play. In the 85th minute of the match, Eurico Severo got a very nice opportunity to score, but Osvaldo Matos was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Váldson Campidelis kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Mondai defense, Eurico Severo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Osvaldo Matos. The Mondai fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Osvaldo Matos should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Frigideira EC getting a freekick after 97 minutes play. Cássio Cunha hit a great ball. It was beautiful to see Mondai's Carlos Augusto Alvarenga in action when he in the 99th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Frigideira EC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
