Duarte Medeiros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flavinho Nunes having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Duarte Medeiros in the 7th minute of play forced Caranapatuba SC's goalkeeper Flavinho Nunes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 8 minutes, Luiz Fábio Rossi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Caranapatuba SC and the Fatima SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 9th minute, Duarte Medeiros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Reynaldo Paulista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Narciso Urbano having to interfere. 30 minutes into the match, Fatima SS's goal looked a bit too open when Ramiro Garcia came free, but Narciso Urbano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 35 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Fatima SS! After a defensive mix-up in Fatima SS's zone, Reynaldo Paulista stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Narciso Urbano came out of the goal and Reynaldo Paulista tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Caranapatuba SC's Reynaldo Paulista got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Mauro da Rocha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Caranapatuba SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Mauro da Rocha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Narciso Urbano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Fatima SS's zone, Reynaldo Paulista stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Narciso Urbano came out of the goal and Reynaldo Paulista tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Fatima SS players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Caranapatuba SC were winning 0-1.

The Fatima SS fans' excitement grew in the 53rd match minute when Fatima SS's Duarte Medeiros looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Enrique de Souza hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Ramiro Garcia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Narciso Urbano having to interfere. Ramiro Garcia was extremely unlucky when he, in the 66th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The supporters of Caranapatuba SC booed when Fatima SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benjamin Arantes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luiz Fábio Rossi was shown his second yellow card after 75 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 75th match minute, Caranapatuba SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Fábio Rossi to maneuver through the defense. In the 78th minute, Manuel Mangueira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Caranapatuba SC booed when Fatima SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dalmo Sarmento didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 85th minute of the match Jardel de Mendonça shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Narciso Urbano showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Duarte Medeiros in the 87th minute of play forced Caranapatuba SC's goalkeeper Flavinho Nunes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 97 minutes, Ramiro Garcia managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caranapatuba SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ramiro Garcia was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Caranapatuba SC players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
