Gurinhem's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. When Miguel Bertassi fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Iturama's protests and gave Miguel Bertassi a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Iturama getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Filipe Diniz acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 36th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Rafinha Mangueira. Jorge de Azevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reynaldo Velloso in the 37th minute of play. Gurinhem's Filipe Diniz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tibúrcio de Carvalho in the 39th minute of play. Miguel Bertassi kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Iturama's zone, Joel Carioca stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jorge de Azevedo came out of the goal and Joel Carioca tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 54th match minute, Iturama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Giovani Velloso to maneuver through the defense. Reynaldo Velloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Joel Carioca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 65 played minutes Gurinhem got a freekick which was hit by Osmar Barral. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Carioca in the 72nd minute of play forced Iturama's goalkeeper Jorge de Azevedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joel Carioca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Gurinhem booed when Iturama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horácio Leal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Filipe Diniz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Paulo Ramos in the 82nd minute of the match. 83 minutes into the game, Iturama's Horácio Leal nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Filipe Diniz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers João Paulo Ramos in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Filipe Diniz saved Gurinhem from getting behind. If Horácio Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Iturama fully deserved thier win.
