In the 4th minute, Cássio Fernandez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With an all-out effort, Gurinhem's Osmar Marinho threw himself towards the right post 11 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Joel Carioca, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Osmar Marinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Carioca in the 15th minute of play. Filipe Diniz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cássio Fernandez in the 17th minute of the match. Cresciuma's Osmar Marinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Carioca in the 29th minute of play. Reynaldo Velloso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Osmar Marinho having to interfere. Osmar Marinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Carioca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 42nd minute of the match, Joel Carioca tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Osmar Marinho saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. With a little luck, Cresciuma's Osmar Marinho got control of the ball when Reynaldo Velloso tried to sneak it across the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Cresciuma's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Joel Carioca was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. When the match had gone on for 70 minutes, Cássio Fernandez put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Filipe Diniz. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Marcel Maia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cresciuma's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcel Maia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Filipe Diniz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 75th match minute, Gurinhem was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joel Carioca to maneuver through the defense. After 80 minutes, Osmar Barral mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gurinhem and the Cresciuma players grew even worse after the yellow card. 84 minutes into the match, Cresciuma's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Carioca came free, but Osmar Marinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Gurinhem's Filipe Diniz got control of the ball when Cássio Fernandez tried to sneak it across the goal line. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting.
