The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Roberto Arósio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Celsinho Souza, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. A collision led to Flor AD getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Geraldo Dante hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcus Salgado in the 8th minute of play forced Flor AD's goalkeeper Roberto Arósio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 9 minutes, Geraldo Dante mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Flor AD and the Tabainha SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Tabainha SS booed when Flor AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geraldo Dante didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rony de Queirós, 10 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Tabainha SS's zone, Zé Carlos Nunes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. David Moreira came out of the goal and Zé Carlos Nunes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 15th minute, Flor AD's Patrício Leal dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. With a little luck, Tabainha SS's David Moreira got control of the ball when Zé Carlos Nunes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Patrício Leal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Moreira having to interfere. A hard shot 30 in the game by Zé Carlos Nunes from a close distance when the talented David Moreira managed to make a qualified save. Tabainha SS's players were relieved. If Celsinho Souza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 39th minute Celsinho Souza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roberto Arósio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Flor AD's Roberto Arósio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Celsinho Souza in the 42nd minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

In the 52nd minute, Percival Paraibano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. David Moreira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zé Carlos Nunes in the 54th minute of the match. Zé Carlos Nunes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 57 minutes into the game, Patrício Leal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Flor AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tabainha SS the free kick. A collision led to Flor AD getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Patrício Leal hit a great ball. 60 minutes into the match, Celsinho Souza dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Roberto Arósio, 1-1. Marcus Salgado was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 66th minute. Tabainha SS's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Celsinho Souza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Roberto Arósio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Flor AD's Jarbas Rossi got a free kick in the 73rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Carlos Nunes in the 77th minute of play forced Tabainha SS's goalkeeper David Moreira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zé Carlos Nunes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Moreira having to interfere. Patrício Leal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. David Moreira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Patrício Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
