Cacá de Brito kicked well hit freekick during the 2nd minute of the match. When Durval Braga fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Parahyba SC's protests and gave Durval Braga a yellow card for diving instead. In the 4th minute, Durval Braga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 9th minute of the match Rômulo da Mata shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Pedro Luís Tinoco showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Samuca Simão made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marcinho das Neves in the 12th minute. In the 18th minute, Lajedo's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after César Zonta fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Parahyba SC's attack was well implemented in the 19th minute, but when Durval Braga was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick. After having played for 21 minutes, Zézinho Arósio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lajedo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zézinho Arósio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Fausto Mazza fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lajedo's protests and gave Fausto Mazza a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Lajedo's Fausto Mazza got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Durval Braga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Samuca Simão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Cássio Coutinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Samuca Simão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Durval Braga in the 31st minute of play. Zézinho Arósio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Luís Tinoco having to interfere. Parahyba SC's Pedro Luís Tinoco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zézinho Arósio in the 40th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Parahyba SC's Marcelo Gonçalves got a free kick in the 41st minute. Zézinho Arósio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Durval Braga to make the kick off. Pedro Luís Tinoco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zézinho Arósio, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. 68 minutes into the game, Parahyba SC's Durval Braga nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Samuca Simão made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. 75 minutes into the game, César Zonta cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Samuca Simão was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 79th minute of the game. One of Lajedo:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Parahyba SC:s goal. If Cássio Coutinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Lajedo's zone, César Zonta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Samuca Simão came out of the goal and César Zonta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 87th match minute, Lajedo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fausto Mazza to maneuver through the defense. If César Zonta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pedro Luís Tinoco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cássio Coutinho in the 95th minute of the match. Parahyba SC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
