The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lajedo's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Samuca Simão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfredão Secco in the 7th minute of the match. After 8 played minutes Lajedo got a freekick which was hit by Gernando Zonta. Ademar Miranda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 11 played minutes Lajedo got a freekick which was hit by Edgard Coutinho. In the 15th minute Ademar Miranda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Samuca Simão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Lajedo defense, Ademar Miranda kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Samuca Simão. The Lajedo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Samuca Simão should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Jucuitiba FC's Raphael Veloso got a free kick in the 20th minute. Zézinho Arósio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Luizão Quadros made a huge save. Cássio Coutinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ademar Miranda blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Samuca Simão having to make a save. The supporters of Jucuitiba FC booed when Lajedo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fausto Mazza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jucuitiba FC's Rafinha de Queirós couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 31st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Lajedo. 33 minutes into the match, Jucuitiba FC's Alfredão Secco sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Samuca Simão narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cássio Coutinho got free with Luizão Quadros in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jucuitiba FC's Luizão Quadros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zézinho Arósio in the 43rd minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Zézinho Arósio to make the kick off. Luizão Quadros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zézinho Arósio in the 54th minute of the match. Luizão Quadros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cássio Coutinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Chiquinho Carioca charged in rather forcefully in the 80th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Chiquinho Carioca the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Cássio Coutinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luizão Quadros having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Jucuitiba FC's zone, Cássio Coutinho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luizão Quadros came out of the goal and Cássio Coutinho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Jucuitiba FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
