Goiatuba EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Caraiba AD the free kick. Caraiba AD were awarded a corner in the 6th minute after Goiatuba EC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Renatinho Lopes took the corner. Manolo Abraão stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Anselmo Tinoco's shot from short distance in the 8th minute. In the 10th minute Anselmo Tinoco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manolo Abraão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Régis Moura managed to get in a good position for a shot. Caraiba AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Régis Moura was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Frederico Gerber breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Frederico Gerber showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Régis Moura in the 14th minute of the match. Humberto Moraes in the 19thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Frederico Gerber, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Frederico Gerber was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Régis Moura showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 21 minute of play. Caraiba AD's Manolo Abraão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anselmo Tinoco in the 42nd minute of play. The supporters of Goiatuba EC booed when Caraiba AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilberto de Sena didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Donato Xavier in the 44th minute of play forced Caraiba AD's goalkeeper Manolo Abraão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Humberto Moraes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Caraiba AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Humberto Moraes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

53 minutes into the match, Goiatuba EC's goal looked a bit too open when Humberto Moraes came free, but Frederico Gerber reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Donato Xavier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manolo Abraão having to interfere. When Régis Moura came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Caraiba AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Régis Moura couldn't finish the play. If Donato Xavier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 80th match minute, Caraiba AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Renato Ferreira to maneuver through the defense. Donato Xavier's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 83rdth minute, Manolo Abraão skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 84 minutes into the match, Caraiba AD's goal looked a bit too open when Anselmo Tinoco came free, but Manolo Abraão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Humberto Moraes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Manolo Abraão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anselmo Tinoco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Caraiba AD's Manolo Abraão got control of the ball when Donato Xavier tried to sneak it across the goal line.
