The supporters of Extremos booed when Ipiuna SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. With his leg Nilton Britto managed to avoid a goal in the 7thth minute, when Extremos's Fábio Tinoco fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 13 minutes into the match, Ipiuna SC's goal looked a bit too open when Andrézinho Souza came free, but Nilton Britto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Fábio Tinoco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Extremos's supporters rose to their feet, but Fábio Tinoco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nilton Britto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Vitório Abraão fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ipiuna SC's protests and gave Vitório Abraão a yellow card for diving instead. In the 18th minute, Vitório Abraão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 42nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Extremos's goalkeeper Nico Mesquita, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Denílson de Queirós was the one to do the kick off. In the 58th minute Fábio Tinoco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nilton Britto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nilton Britto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fábio Tinoco, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. 70 minutes into the game, Extremos's Fábio Tinoco nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nilton Britto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Nico Mesquita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Denílson de Queirós in the 88th minute of the match. Fábio Tinoco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Nilton Britto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Ipiuna SC's zone, Andrézinho Souza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nilton Britto came out of the goal and Andrézinho Souza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
