The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Ancuri's goal looked a bit too open when Celsinho Dantas came free, but Mauro Faustino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 6 minutes into the match, Maracajau EC's Celsinho Dantas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mauro Faustino narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jano Freire showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from César Lopez, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. César Lopez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jano Freire having to interfere. After 16 played minutes Maracajau EC got a freekick which was hit by Marcelinho Paranaense. The long shot by Ademar Mandrak in the 17th minute really tested Jano Freire's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. 18 minutes into the game, one of Maracajau EC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Ancuri a penalty, 20 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ademar Mandrak, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Maracajau EC's Jano Freire. 1-0. Evandro de Castro kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers César Lopez in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jano Freire saved Maracajau EC from getting behind. Mauro Faustino showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Celsinho Dantas in the 37th minute of the match. In the 37th minute, Leopoldo Meirelles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 39 minutes of play, Maracajau EC's Christiano Meira made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mauro Faustino was left in no man's land by his defense there! Mauro Faustino didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Celsinho Dantas went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Cristóvão Zonta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Jano Freire tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If César Lopez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When César Lopez came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Ancuri fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that César Lopez couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Ancuri's Mauro Faustino got control of the ball when Celsinho Dantas tried to sneak it across the goal line. Leopoldo Meirelles hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristóvão Zonta in the 74th minute of play forced Maracajau EC's goalkeeper Jano Freire to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Celsinho Dantas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Mauro Faustino made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Ancuri's Leopoldo Meirelles got a free kick in the 80th minute. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 86th minute of the game. One of Ancuri:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Maracajau EC:s goal. Jano Freire showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from César Lopez, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. Jeferson Arruda kicked well hit freekick during the 97th minute of the match. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Maracajau EC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
