In the 4th minute, Gerson Freire left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cupaoba fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Cristóvão Ramalho made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Emílio Vasconcelos sent off a good shot on target. After 12 played minutes Cupaoba got a freekick which was hit by Clemente Teles. Emílio Vasconcelos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Cristóvão Ramalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 16th minute, Gerson Freire got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Emílio Vasconceloss short, quick shot in the 21stth minute got Cristóvão Ramalho to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Cupaoba's Ricardo de Castro got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marcel Machado lost his temper 24 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Edgar Melo placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Ricardo de Castro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Perivaldo Moraes having to interfere. After 30 played minutes Guayuba got a freekick which was hit by Amauri Toledo. Gerson Freire sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 47 minutes into the match, Guayuba's goal looked a bit too open when Ricardo de Castro came free, but Perivaldo Moraes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Emílio Vasconcelos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ricardo de Castro to make the kick off. After some careless play in the Guayuba defense, Gerson Freire kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Perivaldo Moraes. The Guayuba fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Perivaldo Moraes should have stopped the shot. Gerson Freire could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Perivaldo Moraes made a huge save. Cupaoba's Gerson Freire got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cupaoba's Cristóvão Ramalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emílio Vasconcelos in the 85th minute of play. Perivaldo Moraes made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Gerson Freire sent off a good shot on target. Edgar Melo charged in rather forcefully in the 89th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edgar Melo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Edgar Melo kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. If Emílio Vasconcelos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cupaoba's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
