The ball went over the crossbar instead. 30 minutes into the game, Marcus Breckenfeld was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tefe AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Abate the free kick. In the 30th match minute, Tefe AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcus Breckenfeld to maneuver through the defense. After 31 minutes, Carlos Eduardo Valadares mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tefe AD and the Abate players grew even worse after the yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Tefe AD fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 31st minute. Penalty! Tefe AD's Alexandre da Cunha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sílvio Luiz Soares in the 38th minute of play. If Umberto Antunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ernesto Souto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Erivaldo Pereira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Umberto Antunes to make the kick off. After 54 minutes of play, Abate's Sílvio Luiz Soares made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alexandre da Cunha was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some careless play in the Tefe AD defense, Abelardo Alves kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alexandre da Cunha. The Tefe AD fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alexandre da Cunha should have stopped the shot. Umberto Antunes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Alexandre da Cunha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sílvio Luiz Soares in the 71st minute of the match. In the 77th minute Ernesto Souto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erivaldo Pereira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 85th minute, Sílvio Luiz Soares got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sílvio Luiz Soares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Abelardo Alves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Abate's supporters rose to their feet, but Abelardo Alves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alexandre da Cunha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Abate had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
