Paulão Madureira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rafinha Gerber having to interfere. Piqui's Rafinha Gerber proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to save Piqui from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Piqui getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Nestor Barreto hit a great ball. Paulão Madureira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rafinha Gerber read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 9th minute of play. In the 13th minute, Gonçalo Cabral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Nestor Barreto came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Piqui fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nestor Barreto couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Nestor Barreto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Piqui's supporters rose to their feet, but Nestor Barreto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paulo Martins breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patrício da Mata in the 21st minute of play forced Itapiranga SC's goalkeeper Paulo Martins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Patrício da Mata managed to get in a good position for a shot. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Paulão Madureira to make the kick off. Rafinha Gerber showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulão Madureira, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nestor Barreto in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Paulo Martins saved Itapiranga SC from getting behind. Rafinha Gerber showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulão Madureira, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. If Patrício da Mata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Patrício da Mata was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 95th minute. Piqui's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Paulão Madureira charged in rather forcefully in the 99th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Paulão Madureira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.
