Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 10thth minute of the game Valdir Pinho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Macavari EC's Válbson Varela was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 13th minute, Leonel Valadares got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 16 minutes, Leonel Valadares made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Macavari EC's Válbson Varela tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Valdir Pinho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pertile SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Valdir Pinho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Válbson Varela breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 20th minute Leonel Valadares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Válbson Varela saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pedro Augusto de Azevedo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luiz Fernando Torres read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. In the 27th minute of the match Kaká Sarmento sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Válbson Varela skillfully saved the ball. Válbson Varela stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Valdir Pinho's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. After 30 minutes, Valdir Pinho made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Macavari EC's Válbson Varela tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Leonel Valadares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Válbson Varela showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valdir Pinho in the 40th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pedro Augusto de Azevedo got free with Luiz Fernando Torres in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Pertile SC booed when Macavari EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Alagoano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Simão Montenegro made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kaká Sarmento during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 51st match minute, Pertile SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kaká Sarmento to maneuver through the defense. Válbson Varela showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valdir Pinho in the 55th minute of the match. Dário Pombal charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dário Pombal the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When Valdir Pinho came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Pertile SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Valdir Pinho couldn't finish the play. Pedro Augusto de Azevedo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luiz Fernando Torres read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play. After having played for 65 minutes, Leonel Valadares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pertile SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leonel Valadares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Macavari EC's Pedro Augusto de Azevedo got a free kick in the 66th minute. Válbson Varela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valdir Pinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Leonel Valadares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Macavari EC's Simão Montenegro in the 73rd minute got a chance for a shot 73rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After 78 minutes of play, Pertile SC's Valdir Pinho made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Válbson Varela was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in Pertile SC's zone, Simão Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luiz Fernando Torres came out of the goal and Simão Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 94 minutes, Maurinho Alves mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pertile SC and the Macavari EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Pertile SC getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Maurinho Alves hit a great ball.
