Clemente Marinho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 14th match minute, Parnaiba EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fiori de Queirós to maneuver through the defense. After 15 minutes, Donato Leal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Parnaiba EC and the Matapagipe players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Parnaiba EC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Donato Leal hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Matapagipe's Zé Roberto Neto slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Raí da Costa. That made the score 2-0 after 16 minutes of play. Valdir Barros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raí da Costa having to interfere. Alfredo Souto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Washington Toscano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Jonas da Mata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 30 minutes into the match, Alfredo Souto notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Matapagipe's Washington Toscano. Washington Toscano was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience was convinced that Jonas da Mata's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Washington Toscano was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. 40 minutes into the match, Matapagipe's goal looked a bit too open when Clemente Marinho came free, but Washington Toscano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

Washington Toscano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fiori de Queirós, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zé Roberto Neto took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Raí da Costa. Raí da Costa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Zé Roberto Neto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raí da Costa having to interfere. 66 minutes into the match, Zé Roberto Neto had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Raí da Costa. Parnaiba EC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zé Roberto Neto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. Washington Toscano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jonas da Mata, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Parnaiba EC booed when Matapagipe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agenor Abraão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alfredo Souto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 90th match minute, Matapagipe was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roberto Pimenta to maneuver through the defense. 91 minutes into the match, Matapagipe's goalkeeper Washington Toscano had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alfredo Souto. In the 95th minute, Valdir Barros made a precise shot to the right of Raí da Costa. Parnaiba EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-1.
