After taking down the ball on Cervinho's corner Dorian Furtado fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Júlio Cosme quite easily take care of the ball. Geovânio Perez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Flavinho Ceresso in the 18th minute. Tiago Mota sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Lajeado's goalkeeper Júlio Cosme, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 26 minutes into the match, Lajeado's goal looked a bit too open when Marcus Schmidt came free, but Júlio Cosme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Flavinho Ceresso came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Lajeado fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Flavinho Ceresso couldn't finish the play. Ismael Linhares took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 32nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Júlio Cosme. Lajeado's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Marcus Schmidt had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Júlio Cosme. Lajeado's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marcus Schmidt was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. If Marcus Schmidt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Júlio Cosme showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcus Schmidt, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Júlio Cosme showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tiago Mota in the 48th minute of the match. The Lajeado players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Cervinho were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marcus Schmidt stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Júlio Cosme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcus Schmidt in the 52nd minute of play. Marcus Schmidt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Flavinho Ceresso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Henrique Pitta during the 62nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Cervinho booed when Lajeado was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Henrique Pitta didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 77 played minutes Lajeado got a freekick which was hit by Sydney Diniz. The long shot by Dorian Furtado in the 78th minute really tested Júlio Cosme's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. In the 79th minute Cervinho were awarded a corner. Dorian Furtado went to the cornerflag to take it. A very nice done corner allowed José Augusto Lara to score against Júlio Cosme in Lajeado's goal. 0-2 after 79 minutes. Lajeado's Flavinho Ceresso got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabiano Mattos in the 88th minute of play forced Cervinho's goalkeeper Geovânio Perez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 90 minutes into the match, Cervinho's goal looked a bit too open when Fabiano Mattos came free, but Geovânio Perez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Flavinho Ceresso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
