José Paulo Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 7 minutes, Remo Alves mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Targinos and the Arceburgo players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 7 played minutes Targinos got a freekick which was hit by Remo Alves. Adriano Valle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arí Jacinto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bruninho da Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Arceburgo's Adriano Valle got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 25 minutes into the game, Pedrão Freire was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Arceburgo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Targinos the free kick. José Paulo Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Adriano Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Targinos's Bruninho da Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Betinho Maranhense during the 44th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 44th minute, Betinho Maranhense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 47 minutes into the match, Targinos's goal looked a bit too open when Marcel Motta came free, but Aníbal Pontes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bruninho da Costa to strike the kick off in the second half. Aníbal Pontes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Adriano Valle's shot from short distance in the 51st minute. Betinho Maranhense was shown his second yellow card after 52 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. When Bruninho da Costa came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Targinos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bruninho da Costa couldn't finish the play. 56 minutes into the game, Tales Linhares was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Arceburgo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Targinos the free kick. After a rather tough play, Arceburgo's Tales Linhares got a free kick in the 56th minute. Arí Jacinto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bruninho da Costa in the 63rd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Targinos's zone, Marcel Motta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aníbal Pontes came out of the goal and Marcel Motta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. José Paulo Montenegro struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Arí Jacinto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Targinos. 68 minutes into the match, Arceburgo's goal looked a bit too open when Bruninho da Costa came free, but Arí Jacinto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 73rd minute of the match Luisinho Pires sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arí Jacinto skillfully saved the ball. 74 minutes into the match, Targinos's José Paulo Montenegro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arí Jacinto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 77th match minute, Arceburgo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedrão Freire to maneuver through the defense. Pedrão Freire blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Aníbal Pontes having to make a save. Marcel Motta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Targinos booed when Arceburgo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcel Motta didn't get a good kick on the ball. When André Borges fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Targinos's protests and gave André Borges a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Arceburgo booed when Targinos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. André Borges didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcel Motta got free with Aníbal Pontes in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Remo Alves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
