Chiquinho Furtado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Vitório Arruda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Edmundo dos Santos came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Piraju FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edmundo dos Santos couldn't finish the play. Anselmo Fernandez kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. If Paulão Soares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 26 minutes into the match, Itajubaquara SS's goal looked a bit too open when Paulão Soares came free, but Jeferson da Silveira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jeferson da Silveira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edmundo dos Santos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 33 minutes into the match, Itajubaquara SS's goal looked a bit too open when Edmundo dos Santos came free, but Jeferson da Silveira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 38 minutes into the match, Piraju FC's goal looked a bit too open when Narciso Vander came free, but Vitório Arruda reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Alessandro Andrade fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. Narciso Vander recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 46 minutes into the match, Piraju FC's goalkeeper Vitório Arruda had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Chiquinho Furtado. Paulão Soares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeferson da Silveira having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Narciso Vander made a kick off. Edmundo dos Santos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeferson da Silveira having to interfere. Itajubaquara SS's Chiquinho Furtado got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 66 minutes into the match, Itajubaquara SS's Chiquinho Furtado sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Vitório Arruda narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Paulão Soares's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jeferson da Silveira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. In the 72nd minute, Edmundo dos Santos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 74 minutes of play, Itajubaquara SS's Chiquinho Furtado made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vitório Arruda was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 80th minute, Piraju FC's Edmundo dos Santos dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Paulão Soares kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Chiquinho Furtado managed to get in a good position for a shot. Itajubaquara SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Chiquinho Furtado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vitório Arruda breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Chiquinho Furtado might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vitório Arruda. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Chiquinho Furtado ran back to his position shaking his head. Vitório Arruda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chiquinho Furtado in the 93rd minute of the match. Piraju FC's Vitório Arruda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Narciso Vander in the 93rd minute of play. If Chiquinho Furtado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
