With a little luck, Tupandi's Jacinto Cavalcante got control of the ball when Adalberto Ribeiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 11th minute, Adalberto Ribeiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Durvalino Melo in the 13th minute of play forced Tupandi's goalkeeper Jacinto Cavalcante to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Durvalino Ferraz charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Durvalino Ferraz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Durvalino Ferraz kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. 16 minutes into the match, Tupandi's goal looked a bit too open when Durvalino Melo came free, but Jacinto Cavalcante reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Geraldo Couto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 26 minutes, Durvalino Melo took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Jacinto Cavalcante to make any attempt to save it. After a defensive mix-up in Tupandi's zone, Durvalino Melo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacinto Cavalcante came out of the goal and Durvalino Melo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gilberto Esteves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Geraldo Couto in the 31st minute of the match. When Durvalino Melo came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Lusitania fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Durvalino Melo couldn't finish the play. Evaristo Mendonça recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Durvalino Melo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Durvalino Melo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the game, Lusitania's Durvalino Melo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jacinto Cavalcante made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Adalberto Ribeiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Durvalino Melo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jacinto Cavalcante stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Durvalino Melo's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. In the 68th minute Durvalino Melo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacinto Cavalcante saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
