In the 9th minute, William Arósio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dino Goiano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dito Mendonça having to interfere. Lunburgo EC's Paulo Meireles proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Lunburgo EC from getting a goal against them. If Clóvis Freire had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Lunburgo EC booed when Galena was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geovani Britto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Galena's Geovani Britto got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 24 played minutes Lunburgo EC got a freekick which was hit by Tadeu Meirelles. Clóvis Freire could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Paulo Meireles made a huge save. In the 26th minute, Galena's Clóvis Freire ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Paulo Meireles. Paulo Meireles yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. After 28 played minutes Galena got a freekick which was hit by Vito Pena. The supporters of Galena booed when Lunburgo EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Betão de Amaral didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 38th minute, Ricardinho Valladares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dito Mendonça showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from William Arósio in the 39th minute of the match. In the 39th minute, William Arósio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dito Mendonça was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geovani Britto in the 44th minute of play forced Lunburgo EC's goalkeeper Paulo Meireles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for William Arósio to strike the kick off in the second half. Vito Pena's late challenge caught a Lunburgo EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vito Pena helped the player get up and apologised. After 54 played minutes Galena got a freekick which was hit by Vito Pena. With his leg Dito Mendonça managed to avoid a goal in the 60thth minute, when Lunburgo EC's Dino Goiano fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 63rd minute, Vito Pena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dino Goiano in the 65thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Dito Mendonça, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Dino Goiano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. William Arósio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dito Mendonça having to interfere. 82 minutes into the match, Lunburgo EC's goal looked a bit too open when Clóvis Freire came free, but Paulo Meireles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Elói Vianna charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Elói Vianna the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 83rd match minute, Lunburgo EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elói Vianna to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Geovani Britto in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Paulo Meireles saved Lunburgo EC from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dino Goiano got free with Dito Mendonça in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 94 minutes, William Arósio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lunburgo EC and the Galena players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 94th minute, William Arósio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. William Arósio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Lunburgo EC's Betão de Amaral got a free kick in the 98th minute. Galena's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
