Vítor de Queiroz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 16 minutes into the game, Luiz Gustavo Veiga recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ciro Cosme. Luiz Gustavo Veiga showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Palmyra's Ciro Cosme proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Palmyra from getting a goal against them. In the 21stth minute of the game Luiz Gustavo Veiga who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Palmyra's Ciro Cosme was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ciro Cosme was a little too slow when Luiz Gustavo Veiga got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 24th minute. The score was now 2-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gil Pinho during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Palmyra's Dráusio Marinho couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 30th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Ararica EC. In the 32nd minute Ernani dos Santos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adriano Cavalcante saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ernani dos Santos in the 35th minute of play forced Ararica EC's goalkeeper Adriano Cavalcante to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 45 minutes Ararica EC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Dráusio Marinho who took care of the corner kick. After having played for 47 minutes, Vítor de Queiroz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palmyra's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vítor de Queiroz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Vítor de Queiroz was the one to do the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Ararica EC's goal looked a bit too open when Ernani dos Santos came free, but Adriano Cavalcante reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Gil Pinho was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 52 minutes had been played. After a rather tough play, Palmyra's Waldemar Barreto got a free kick in the 59th minute. Ararica EC's Hélio Perez got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ararica EC's goalkeeper Adriano Cavalcante, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ernani dos Santos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Adriano Cavalcante made a huge save. In the 75th minute Ernani dos Santos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adriano Cavalcante saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Waldir Britto hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. In the 78th minute of the match Ernesto Urbano sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ciro Cosme skillfully saved the ball. 87 minutes into the game, Flavinho de Castro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ararica EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palmyra the free kick. In the 87th minute, Flavinho de Castro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 93rd play minute Ernani dos Santos came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Adriano Cavalcante. 2-1. Palmyra's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
