After 4 played minutes Martinopolis SS got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Hermes. Barracas's Enéas Severo suffered a sore thigh after 5 minutes and couldn't finish the game. In the 10th minute Cássio Marinho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulão Martins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cássio Marinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Paulão Martins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 15 minutes, Patrício Fantini mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Martinopolis SS and the Barracas players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Martinopolis SS getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Patrício Fantini hit a great ball. When Cássio Marinho came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Barracas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cássio Marinho couldn't finish the play. Martinopolis SS's Paulão Martins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudinei Cardozo in the 29th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cássio Marinho in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Paulão Martins prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 34 minutes, Cássio Marinho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barracas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cássio Marinho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Barracas's Cássio Marinho got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Maurício Moreira took the ball and in the 49 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Adalmo Freitas. Adalmo Freitas dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cássio Marinho stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Chiquinho Linares fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Barracas's protests and gave Chiquinho Linares a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Barracas's Chiquinho Linares got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Maurício Moreira might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Adalmo Freitas. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The Martinopolis SS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. After some careless play in the Martinopolis SS defense, Cássio Marinho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Paulão Martins. The Martinopolis SS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paulão Martins should have stopped the shot. In the 80th minute, Maurício Moreira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Adalmo Freitas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maurício Moreira in the 80th minute of play. In the 82nd minute Martinopolis SS were awarded a corner. Váldson Velloso went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Martinopolis SS's Cláudio Bastos to a score. 3-1 in the 82nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mário Carneiro in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Adalmo Freitas saved Barracas from getting behind. Barracas's Adalmo Freitas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mário Carneiro in the 90th minute of play. 96 minutes into the match, Mário Carneiro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Adalmo Freitas. Barracas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mário Carneiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. A collision led to Martinopolis SS getting a freekick after 99 minutes play. Váldson Velloso hit a great ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Martinopolis SS fans cheered their team off the field, for while Barracas had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
