The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Carlos Fernando Moreira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dorian Marques having to interfere. 11 minutes into the game, Rubinho Trigo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Taunay SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itiquira FC the free kick. In the 11th match minute, Taunay SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rubinho Trigo to maneuver through the defense. Kléber Queiroz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Amadeu Veiga made a huge save. Dorian Marques made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Fernando Moreira in the 18th minute of play. Dorian Marques took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hugo Arantes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 31st minute, Kléber Queiroz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kléber Queiroz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Amadeu Veiga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hugo Arantes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Carlos Fernando Moreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

In the 53rd match minute, Itiquira FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elói Fontes to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Itiquira FC's zone, Hugo Arantes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dorian Marques came out of the goal and Hugo Arantes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Taunay SC booed when Itiquira FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruno Baptista didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dorian Marques made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Hugo Arantes sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bruno Baptista in the 59th minute of play forced Taunay SC's goalkeeper Amadeu Veiga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kléber Queiroz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind Taunay SC's goalkeeper Amadeu Veiga, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Carlos Fernando Moreira kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. The supporters of Taunay SC booed when Itiquira FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elói Fontes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Carlos Fernando Moreira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Amadeu Veiga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With his leg Dorian Marques managed to avoid a goal in the 96thth minute, when Taunay SC's Hugo Arantes fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
