A collision led to Paulista FC getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Luizão Leite hit a great ball. Chico Paiva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Fernando Nascimento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Paulista FC booed when Liberdade SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Álvaro Jacinto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paulista FC's Luiz Fernando Nascimento got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Adalberto Bueno in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Chico Paiva saved Liberdade SS from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Liberdade SS's Kauan Reis got a free kick in the 16th minute. Chico Paiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adalberto Bueno in the 18th minute of play. Adalberto Bueno received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Chico Paiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chico Paiva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Fernando Nascimento, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. 31 minutes into the game, Álvaro Jacinto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Liberdade SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Paulista FC the free kick. If Edmílson do Vale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 44 minutes into the match, Luiz Fernando Nascimento notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Liberdade SS's Chico Paiva. Chico Paiva was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luiz Fernando Nascimento stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arí Pinheiro showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Arí Pinheiro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nicolas Recife went, in the 72nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Luiz Fernando Nascimento managed to get in a good position for a shot. Paulista FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Luiz Fernando Nascimento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Chico Paiva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Chico Paiva didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Adalberto Bueno went, in the 80th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Luiz Fernando Nascimento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Luiz Fernando Nascimento's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Chico Paiva was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Paulista FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
